George Kerechanin was born in Čingava, Austria-Hungary (Borzhavs'ke, Ukraine is its current name, country) on Oct. 15, 1886. He came to America in 1907 & 1911 (see People - Stories).
Mary Andraško was born in Veliki Kumnjata, Austria-Hungary (now called Velyki Kom'yaty, Ukraine). She came to America in 1914.
George and Mary were married May 24, 1916 in Pennsylvania. Their children are Mary, Julia, George, and Chuck; when they grew up and married, they and their families, and their mother, Mary, all lived on the westside of Barberton, Ohio:
- Mary and Mike Palija and their children, Juliana, Terese, Mike, and Dan;
- Julia and Pete Torroni and their children, Rosemarie (Pinkie), Joanne, and Marcie;
- George and Julia (Peresta) and their children, George, Mary Ellen, Jeanne, and Patti;
- Chuck and Virg (Pramik) and their children, Chuck, Chad, Chris, Sue, Karen, and Mari.
George and Mary Kerechanin spoke the Ruthenian (pronounced Rutheenian) language, as did their children.
